Funny Recent Travel Story

Iโ€™m feeling rather snarky today as our furnace is not working on the coldest day in recent memory. ๐Ÿคจ Just know I am sending this out under a pile of blankets dressed like an Alaskan lumberjack freshly back from a thrift store run. ๐Ÿ˜

See the photo above? Ok, now you are ready to read the story.

On the train ride to the Phoenix airport terminal after dropping off the rental car. my daughter and I were seated on high benches in the very back of the train with a large window near us. I looked up and saw a nice shot of the skyline. While I was trying to get a photo I apparently did not hear the driver say โ€œHold on!โ€ The train lurched forward like it had been shot out of a cannon. I (whose feet were dangling at least a foot from the floor, because thatโ€™s just how things are when you are undertall ๐Ÿ˜) also lurched forward toward my carry-on suitcase and a thought flashed through my mind, โ€œOMGosh, Iโ€™m going to straddle my carry-on and then fall splat on the floor on top of it.โ€ After I clumsily get one foot on the floor and am teetering precariously, my daughter sees what is likely going to happen and grabs the long retractable handle of my suitcase and shoves her shoulder in front of me to keep me from falling.

She gives me a long side eye and says โ€œWhat just happened there?โ€ To which I can barely tell her she prevented me from straddling the dang suitcase and both it and I landing sprawled on the floor - because I was laughing so hard I couldnโ€™t breathe. We then both had a laughing attack at that point, tears streaming down our faces and unable to talk. Sometimes the weirdest stuff is a mother/daughter bonding experience. Not that she kept the story quiet when we got home, mind you. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‰
