I love taking unique ways to travel, whether it be by air, train, unique automobile, or animal! I have ridden in many types of vehicles, planes, trains, trolleys, tractors, boats of various types, and horses. I have even ridden a donkey up and down some mountains in Chiapas, Mexico (Tip: Hang on tight! 😱) Currently I am writing this on a ferry to Canada. It is fairly foggy, so there’s not much of a view. I have never ridden a camel or elephant or been in a hot air balloon, but they are all on my list. 😉 So I was excited to try a water taxi in downtown Oklahoma City in April 2024. Yes, you read that right. 😏 It surprised me too!

Bricktown, part of downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has a scenic canal and you can take a boat to see the various sights. Here is the link for more info and to book a water taxi tour for yourself!

It’s an enjoyable ride. On the journey you will hear more about the city’s history, see notable buildings, and view some beautiful artwork. You will also see the Oklahoma City Land Run Monument. Your guide will tell amusing and interesting stories and maybe even tell a joke or two. I enjoyed the water taxi tour immensely and increased my understanding of history in this area.

I have always wanted to float down the canals in San Antonio, but this tour was great. 😁 Here are a few (haha - I never have just a few 😉) photos from my tour. Enjoy and be sure to take your own tour when in OKC!

The Sonic Headquarters is on the canal! ⬇️

They were building an event area for food trucks. What a great idea!’

For more information about the Oklahoma City Land Run Monument, click below. The details are quite interesting! The monument is not without controversy, though.

An article that includes multiple viewpoints. ⬇️ I would be remiss if I didn’t include these viewpoints. History does not take place in a vacuum and we owe it to ourselves to study history from multiple viewpoints in order to learn from it. In fact, the Chickasaw Nation put up a statue and plaza displaying information about their history both before and after this time period in history. I was glad to see both perspectives represented on the water taxi tour.

If you enjoy history, artwork, and nature you will enjoy a Bricktown Water Taxi tour. Once more, below is the link to book your own tour!
