I can feel it, see it, and even smell it! We are getting closer and closer to Spring! Yay!!! One of my favorite times of year. Spring means tulips, mild sunny days, and lots of new things to do both indoors and outdoors in the Midwest. Here’s a list of fun activities to do in the next few weeks in he Omaha area. Let’s get out there! 😁

1.Art & Soup - Sunday, March 10 from 2 to 5 at the Omaha Design Center at 1502 Cuming Street in Omaha. This event is a fundraiser for the Visiting Nurse Association. This is the 27th year for this fundraiser and proceeds go to help provide VNA nurses in group maternity homes, domestic violence shelters, and homeless shelters in Omaha and Council Bluffs. At this event you can purchase beautiful, original artwork made by local artists, bid on fun items, and enjoy soup prepared by some of the best chefs in the area. Sounds like a worthy cause plus a fun time to me! Click below for tickets and additional information…

2. Toyopia - Opens Saturday, March 10 at the Durham Museum in downtown Omaha. It’s a hands-on exhibit of the classic toys you remember playing with as a kid. The exhibit will be available through May 26. There will be lots of fun things to see and do in the exhibit, such as the world’s largest Etch-a-Sketch, a life size dollhouse, and a retro arcade area. There is member preview night on Friday, March 9, which requires special tickets. See the website below for more information. I also plan to bring you a follow-up post from the exhibit soon!

3. Brick Days Lego Fan Expo - March 23-24 at Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. Calling all Lego fans - of any age! This is the area’s largest Lego expo in the area and will feature Lego creations, hands-on activities and games. Click below for more details.

4. Art Battle Omaha - I have personally been to this and can vouch that it’s fun! From 6-10 pm on March 16 at Culxr House in Omaha. Twelve artists compete in 3 rounds and participants (attendees) get to vote to see who will be the winner! It’s not a sit-down event. You can walk around and watch the artists create their masterpieces. All artwork from the night can be bid on electronically. I have an artist friend competing, so I will be there!
