As you have likely guessed, I really enjoy staying in AirBnbs when it makes sense to do so. The variety of AirBnbs and other home rental offerings is amazing to me. There are smaller home rentals for a solo person or a couple and home rentals that sleep 15 people or more. Some are situated in gorgeous locations and some are smack dab in the middle of a city and allow you to walk to everything. Some home rentals look and feel like a luxury hotel room (but usually with more space). Some are deliberately rustic and that is part of their charm.

With this series, I am highlighting my favorite AirBnbs or home rentals in the Midwest. Staying at these places feels special and unique, sort of like another attraction. You may remember the lodging even more than some things you did. And that’s part of the fun of traveling!

Some AirBnbs are even themed, which I really enjoy. Here’s one barn-themed AirBnb in Rogers, Arkansas which is a short drive away from Bentonville, Arkansas (home of Walmart). Both towns have a wide variety of things to do - art, history, concerts, museums, community events, recreation, and more.

The AirBnb I’m highlighting has a barn theme and is in a small circa 1894, two-story barn. While I didn’t actually stay in the AirBnb, I stayed in a car-themed AirBnb on the same property. The reason I am not highlighting the car-themed rental is because it is currently rented into the near future. When it becomes available I will highlight the car-themed AirBnb.

Both AirBnbs on the property share the beautiful backyard. The host, also named Deanna, is an award-winning gardener and I so enjoyed the backyard while I was there. Sadly, due to adverse weather later this Spring, Deanna lost a giant prize-winning tree in her garden. She is working on cleaning things up and is creating a book dedicated to her beautiful tree. That being said, there is still a lovely koi pond and patio area to enjoy. I had a lovely evening meal by the koi pond, after taking food out from a wonderful old-fashioned drive-in just around the block from her house named Susie Q Malt Shop. I will post a few photos of the drive-in at the end.

Post publishing note: Deanna, the AirBnb host, just told me that the Susie Q Malt Shop is no more. It was destroyed in the same storm that took down her beautiful tree. With that in mind, I dedicate this post to Deanna’s beautiful pin oak tree and the Susie Q Malt Shop, both of which I enjoyed very much in mid-April. Two weeks later they were both gone. I write this travel blog to encourage folks to travel now - while they still can. Save nothing for a special occasion. LIFE IS THE SPECIAL OCCASION. Do it now! 🫶

After staying in the other AirBnb, I can attest that Deanna’s AirBnbs are very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and in a great location. Deanna includes all the impeccable little details that make for a fabulous stay. Things like great communication, off-street parking, and fun theming make her AirBnbs stand out.

Be sure to check out her AirBnb when visiting the area. There are living quarters on the first floor of the small barn and sleeping quarters upstairs.

Here is the link to the AirBnb and a few more photos of the rental and area attractions. It was a wonderful stay and you would love it too!
